64 Million Years of After
video, 7'14'', 2021
“64 Million Years Before Or After” is a collaboration project of Kadir Kayserilioğlu and Darazor (Ali Kanal).
At the summer of 2021 in Izmir, two artists were meeting and walking at an abandoned housing ruins of Sumerbank, a closed national bank established during the first years of Turkish Republic. Conversations between two artists about paranormal activities, aesthetics of destruction and hauntology shaped the idea of this video/performance project. A text written by Kadir Kayserilioğlu inspired by a passage from Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi novel Radio Free Albemuth and an old costume found by Darazor among the ruins of Sumerbank are used as the elementary sources. “64 Million Years Before Or After” displays a sarcastic narration about past and future, alternate realities and dystopia speculations.
