Pasha Döner
installation / happening, 2019
“Pasha Döner” is a fictional kebab brand which designed to evoke the investments on cheap kebab restaurants that growed in recent years in Turkey. Common direction of these different kebab brands is the remarkable similarity of brand identity. Each of them choses brand names with emphasis on power and masculinity (Like Pasha, King, Vizier, Captain etc.). At this point, Pasha Döner scrutinizes the organizational forms of the capital through populist images, masculinity and food culture.
In this project some robotic car toys with Pasha Döner logo design stickers wander aimlessly at the exhibition space. This installation (and also a performance of robots) aims to create ironic interaction and invites viewers to think on contexts between dominant political discourse in Turkey, masculinity, meat consumerism and the phenomenon of robots as a capitalism fantasy.
